FERTILITY DOESN'T HAVE TO COST An ARM AND A LEG |
A lot of couples have trouble conceiving. In the US it can be up to 1 in 6, according to Agean Lin, founder of Aidmics, the Taiwanese company behind a new gadget called iSperm.
iSperm is an at-home sperm tester that can supply instant fertility measurements combined with actual visuals of the sperm, all thanks to the magic of a backlight and an iPad camera. Aidmics algorithms can analyse a sperm sample for sperm count and mobility. The gadget was originally developed for livestock, the iSperm has sold nearly 200 sets to farmers, but Lin saw its potential for the global human fertility market and plans to seek US Food and Drug Administration approval within a year. |
